When you think of power house basketball conferences, probably the first one that comes to mind would be the Big East. If someone were to compare the Missouri Valley Conference to the Big East, it would be very obvious that the Missouri Valley isn't even close to being on the Big East's level. Well, Creighton, Omaha's pride and joy, is making the switch from the Missouri Valley to the Big East. This transition is going to be extremely difficult for the Bluejays. The new Big East conference will consist of 10 teams: Butler, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John's,
Villanova, Xavier, and Creighton. This conference will be very hard to get used to because now instead of playing teams like Evansville or Bradley, we will be playing Georgetown or Marquette.
This conference move was made official just this past Wednesday, March 20. In order to stay commpetitive with the other Big East schools, Creighton will have to boost its athletic department budget, but Reverend Timothy Lannon is very confident that this is a very good move for the school overall. It should also help Creighton a lot because now they will be able to attract more student-atheltes to the school.
